Contributors to the Facebook page will no doubt be aware that I run a weekly photo competition. It's closely fought, and the photographer with the most wins will get the title Photogarapher Of The Year 2014. Last year, Wilna Botha, from South Africa was our winner. Click on her name to see her best photos. This year, I've added two new categories, including this one, Most Improved Photographer 2014. It was hard to judge, and two photographers stood out. As Point-n-Shoot is for everyone from beginners upwards, it's not the best pictures that decide this award, but who's photography has improved the most over the year. The two winners, by co-incidence, both hail from the South West of our country, one from Bridgewater/South Wales, and the other from Cornwall.

First up, we have a lady who simply loves taking pictures. Lila Gray lives on a farm in Falmouth, and has improved tremendously over the year. She is retired from the police force. She has an eye for small details, and although not technically minded in photography, her point-n-shoot approach has benefited from both this site, and the encouragement of her fellow photographers on our Facebook page. Below is a selection of Lila's images from that page. Many of Lila's photographs are of the local towns and villages in Cornwall, with harbour life being particulary well doccumented.

Our joint winner with Lila, hails from the Bridgewater area of Somerset, and is handy in more ways than one. Not only is he very handy with a camera, he's very handy by trade as he runs his own Handyman business. He has upgraded his cameras regularly, having recently upgraded from a Fujifilm bridge camera to a Nikon D3200. The new Nikon seems to have brought out the best in Jason's photography. Here is a small selection of Jason's images posted on our Facebook page over the last year.
As you can see, both Lila and Jason have posted some great photographs over the past year. You can post your own photos on our Facebook page. Just ask to join the page, and start posting your best pictures. And maybe you'll be having your own page like this in 2016.
